About Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer's is a kind of dimentia that can change the way a person behaves, thinks, and remembers. It is the sixth-leading cause of death in the country and, to this day, there is no cure. Whether due to genetics or old age, people everywhere are affected with this disease, young and old. Though the symptoms might not be too severe early on, they get progressively worse overtime.

In the case of my Grandpa, my family and I didn't understand enough about what we should or shouldn't do with him. We thought it was cute at first, but then things got more severe. By the time we tried to fix him, the disease was far too advanced and we just had to wait it out. I encourage everyone to understand and teach others about Alzheimer's disease so that, maybe, they could do what we couldn't and save someone's life.

I dedicate this blog to my Grandpa, who died December 17, 2010 of Alzheimer's disease. To learn more about this disease, the symptoms, and what you can do, please visit www.alz.org.
